Cerebrovascular Examinations
 
 

Some of the symptoms in which this exam might be helpful:

Transient Ischemic Attack, a frank stroke, neck masses which may represent a carotid artery tumor, asymptomatic bruits, non-hemispheric symptoms such as dizziness, syncope or double vision.

The carotid duplex examinations are also used to follow patients who have known carotid artery disease or have had surgery or stents to correct the carotid blockage.

This examination is referred to as a Carotid Duplex Exam.

There is no preparation for this exam, you may eat and take any medications prior to this test.
