Venous Examinations
 
 

The venous examination is helpful in evaluating patients for the following symptoms or diagnoses:

Venous insufficiency

Suspected deep vein thrombosis of the lower and/or upper extremity

Swelling of the leg, foot, arm or hand

Superficial phlebitis of the lower or upper extremity

Venous stasis disease

Post evaluation of  leg edema following knee or hip replacement

Cellulitis of the extremity

Varicose Veins

Pre-op vein mapping for cardiac bypass or lower extremity arterial bypass

Synovial cyst

This examination is referred to as a Venous Duplex Exam.

There is no preparation for this exam, you may eat and take your medications.
