Peripheral Arterial Examinations
 
 

These examinations are helpful in evaluating  patients with the following diagnoses or symptoms:

Claudication

Gangrene of the digit or toe

Native artery disease

Ischemic rest pain

Ischemic ulcer

Diabetes with arterial disease with/without presence of ulcer of the foot or leg

Embolic disease of the lower or upper extremity

Foot or toe pain

Raynaud's disease

Pre-op evaluation for podiatric procedures

Non-healing foot or toe lesion

Peripheral neuropathy

Steal of the upper extremity from a renal access graft

Post-op assessment after bypass or angioplasty

This examination is referred to as either an Upper Extremity Pulse Volume Recording or a Lower Extremity Pulse Volume Recording with or without exercise.

There is no preparation for this exam, you may eat and take your medications.
