Along with following known abdominal aortic aneurysms, duplex imaging of the aorta is helpful in following patients who have had endovascular repair of the aortic aneurysm to identify graft leaks or further enlargement of the aneurysm. With the increasing use of endovascular stents, duplex imaging can also assist the physician in determining the continued patency of stent grafts placed in the iliac arteries. This examination would be referred to as Duplex Scanning of the Abdominal Aorta and Iliacs. This examination requires the patient to have nothing to eat or drink after 12 midnight the night before. If you are a diabetic patient, you may have a light meal in early morning. |
