Virginia Surgical Associates, PC and The Vascular Lab For over 40 years, Virginia Surgical Associates has been providing vascular and general surgery care to Virginia's patients, through offices in Richmond, Mechanicsville and Tappahannock. Each of our physicians was recognized for his academic achievements in medical school and rewarded with outstanding surgical training programs. All are board certified in their specialty. They participate in the training of residents at the Medical College of Virginia and are recognized for their involvement in community affairs. Their quest for excellance has continued in their practice of vascular and general surgery. They are committed to staying abreast of the many advances and new technologies in surgery and participate in numerous medical seminars and courses to help ensure the best care available for our patients. Our physicians are committed to patient education. An extensive library of informational pamphlets and brochures are available to assist patients in becoming more educated about their health along with procedures and treatments which may be indicated to maintain a maximum level of comfort and productivity. Under the direction of Virginia Surgical Associates, The Vascular Lab is a private, non-invasive laboratory that provides convenient outpatient testing for their patients to assist in determining the clinical course of the patient. The Vascular Lab also provides non-invasive out-patient testing for referring physicians. The physicians at Virginia Surgical Associates have a combined experience of directing and/or interpreting over 100,000 vascular studies. Fully accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories, the Vascular Lab combines high resolution gray scale and color flow imaging equipment, with experienced technologists, in a setting specifically designed for the outpatient. The Duplex Scanner utilizes a combination of real time ultrasonography, color flow imaging, pulsed doppler and sound spectral analysis to identify occlusive lesions of the venous and arterial systems of the upper and lower extremities. The Vascular Lab provides examinations in the areas of Cerebrovascular, Venous and Peripheral Arterial. Please refer to the Peripheral Vascular Lab section for indepth information of these areas.
