earned his Bachelor of Science with honors from Manhattan College in Bronx, New York where he was awarded a membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore where he was honored with membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. His surgical training was completed at the Medical College of Virginia, followed by a Fellowship in Clinical Transplantation at the Hume Transplant Center at VCU/MCV, where he still serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery.
Dr. McTamaney is board certified in general surgery and is a Registered Vascular Technologist. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Medical Society of Virginia, the Richmond Academy of Medicine and the Virginia Vascular Society.
Dr. McTamaney devotes his practice to vascular and general surgery with special interest in pancreatic, liver and biliary surgery and advanced Laparoscopic procedures.
His family are members of the Bon Air Christian Church and he devotes his free time to music, astronomy and restoration of their 1905 Victorian home.
