received his undergraduate degree in Biology with high honors from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1993. He attended medical school and completed his general surgery internship and residency as well as a molecular biology research fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans.
Dr. Tierney is board certified in both vascular and general surgery. He is a member of numerous professional societies devoted to the advancement of Vascular Surgery. He has spoken at national and regional vascular meetings and serves as an Associate Clinical Professor of Vascular Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Tierney devotes his practice to all aspects of Vascular Surgery including open surgical and endovascular treatment of arterial and venous insufficiency as well as dialysis access. Dr. Tierney has a special interest in endovascular and open repair of aortic aneurysms and advanced angioplasty and stenting procedures to improve circulation through a minimally invasive approach.
Dr. Tierney lives in Mechanicsville, Virginia with his wife and three daughters. In his leisure time he enjoys skiing and hunting waterfowl.
